Happy 4th of July!

Today, we celebrate our independence. So many of us have forgotten the price paid by people we will never know or meet for us to be free in this country.

We are over two hundred years olds, and many have offered the ultimate sacrifice over the years in various wars. I am often saddened because we only think about partying, sales, and fireworks.

I am not against those things, but I hope you take a moment and reflect on what life in this country would be like if others did not believe we should live free with the rights our God gave us.

Let us not take for granted those freedoms and willingly give them up for easy compensations.

So, go out have fun with your families. Do the bar be ques, and fireworks if it is safe and allowed in your area. I do not mean to preach. I only want to remind myself and others how great it is to be an American

My grandson brought me Chicken and tater tots for lunch. My son got me ribs to cook. It would have been awesome if he had offered to cook them. However, I now have ribs cooking for dinner, including corn on the cob, cabbage, and cornbread.

While dinner is cooking, I am watching Christmas in July Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel. I love Christmas stories.

I will not have fireworks for two reasons. One, my children and grandchildren are grown, doing their thing with friends, two, they are not allowed where I live for safety reasons. My son and grandson will share dinner with me, and that’s all I need.

Well, I better get back to paying attention to cooking. So, until next time, please stay, keep the faith, and remember why we celebrate the 4th of July.

Happy 4th of July!!!
