What Are You Willing to Change?

If you want different results next year, what are you willing to change in what you are doing now? – Unknown

That was a decision I made at the beginning of the year. You may have noticed I started writing about journaling quite often.

It came to me that I needed to learn about journaling and share that knowledge. I have done through speeches, Facebook Live, blogging, and appearances on podcasting shows.

It may seem like a small thing to you, but last year, after the COVID shutdown, I attended conferences, workshops, and networking meetings with the assistance of Zoom.

I learned much and met so many people I would not have otherwise. But it was not enough. I needed to do something to grow beyond sitting in front of the computer. Of all things, journaling is what came to me. And I have enjoyed working with individuals and teaching them how to get started and the many benefits.

That is what I have done to change and grow for this year. I am working on what I want to do to ad to my growth for next year.

What are you willing to do to achieve different results for next year. You decide what you want to work on for a different outcome. Make it something that will challenge you and help you grow. Until next time, stay safe, and keep the faith.

How Changing Your Mindset Can Improve Your Life

“See yourself living in abundance, and you will attract it. It always works, it works every time, with every person.” – Bob Proctor

You probably do not constantly think about how your mindset affects your life. You have always felt this way, either due to how you were raised or through other circumstances. Your attitude does affect your life. By changing how you think, you can improve your life.

Abundance mindset, scarcity mindset, fear mindset, fixed mindset, growth mindset, confident mindset, and many others are all different types of mindsets. Each unconscious and conscious belief affects our lives every moment.

According to the research of Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck, the power of our beliefs, both conscious and unconscious, and how changing even the simplest of them can have a profound impact on nearly every aspect of our lives.

When you change your mindset, you become more creative, artistic, intelligent, more successful, more athletic, and more fulfilled.

Here are some ways changing your mindset to an abundance or growth mindset can improve your life.

You are not afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Changing your mindset to growth allows you to see the many different paths available to you in whatever you are seeking-job advancement, creative outlets, or something more personal. It will enable you to move forward rather than being stuck in the same place.

When you change your mindset, you see there is plenty of resources to go around. Even though there will be competition, you will see opportunities in every aspect of your life.

You become comfortable sharing ideas without feeling threatened or intimidated, which leads to better choices, environments, and relationships. You are not afraid of being a part of a team and participating in group situations.

Changing your mindset to one of growth helps you build better personal and romantic relationships. You realize people will always have differences. You learn that a relationship involves learning about and from each other. You grow together and develop skills to work well together.

You will begin to judge yourself and others less. You will not have time to waste on thinking about what others are saying or doing. Instead, you will be focusing on making progress in your life.

The change to a growth mindset has you accepting constructive criticism for what it is and using it to grow. The growth mindset helps you be more confident because you will not need validation to reassure you that you are doing it right.

You can change your mindset, and it will improve your life. Your skills can be cultivated, learned, practiced, and grown.  You no longer worry about what will happen. Instead, you will commit to the process of doing, finishing, and learning along the way.

Changing your mindset helps you become a better person, improves your skills, and helps you build relationships. You will step out of your comfort zone to go after what you want and believe you will get it. You are in control of what you think.

Until next time, stay safe, and keep the faith.

5 Daily Reminders

I posted an article about these five daily reminders last year. I believe them to be significant enough to re-post.

We need daily reminders that we matter and have something to offer. Print yourself a copy of this or write them. It may stick with you longer if, after you print them, you write them in your handwriting.

It is quick and easy to use the computer and print things out, but I remember longer when I write it for myself. Please! I do not write down everything, especially if it is long. However, if it is necessary, I take the time to write it out. You may not need to write. Printing and posting it somewhere you can see it regularly may be enough for you. Do what works best for you, but do it and remember.

Now to switch channels. I am looking out my window, and the day looks beautiful! The sky is light power blue with a spreading of white clouds. Hard to believe the night before last, it was raining hard. I sleep all night peacefully when it rains and wake up feeling rested.

I am going to take my laptop, sit on my porch, and enjoy the sunshine. I hope it is warm because I’m not too fond of chilly days, even with the sun shining! Enough about me and my hope to have a great day. No. Correction. I will have a great day!!! I hope you do too. Until next time, stay safe, and keep the faith.

Building Self Respect

The first step toward developing self-respect is acknowledging and believing that you matter more than others when it comes to your life decisions.

When you begin to understand that others take their cue from you and respond to how they treat you, you can take charge of yourself.

Be True to Yourself and Your Needs

Be Clear on Your Values

For each part of life that makes you a whole, well-rounded person, consider how your values will play out and what your personal goals are for each.

Stop Trying to Impress Others

Being comfortable with who you are, means no longer worrying if your choices are acceptable to others.

Avoid Being Jealous of Others

Envying others for their success or happiness is sure to rob you of your joy and self-respect.

Change the Inner Voice of Negativity

The negative inner voice we all have can often keep us from taking action in our lives.

Do Not Let Others Have Power Over You

Only when your self-worth comes from you and not others do you have real self-respect.

Treat Yourself with Respect

Surround Yourself with Respectful People

Lead by Example

By treating others with respect, you lead by example in two ways. You help others to see how to treat you. And, you remind yourself why you are deserving of self-respect and how you should treat yourself.

Never Quit Trying

Working on your self-respect is a lifelong endeavor. As we grow and change, our behavior toward ourselves shifts as well.

When you treat yourself with self-respect and are confident in the things you do, others will treat you with respect.

Until next time, stay safe, and keep the faith.

DEALING WITH CHANGE

Change is so difficult for many to deal with. Use these tips to help you deal with change.

  1. Acceptance

Acceptance is the most significant step and the most necessary one. Accept that life will always be changing. It is the one thing you can depend on above all else. When you and your friends were hanging out in high school, it all changed when you graduated. There are and will be plenty more examples throughout your life.

  • Do Not Get Too Comfortable

The most significant changes seem always to happen when we are content or comfortable. While there may not be scientific evidence to back this up, you should still be ready for anything that comes your way. When you are comfortable in your situation, you let your guard down, making it more of a shock when something does change.

  • Talk About Your Feelings Towards Change

People tend to let things build up inside. They do not talk about their situations, or if they do, they do not speak to the right people. For instance, if the changes are at work, consider talking to your manager about the impact of those changes. Managers are human beings, despite what people otherwise believe. Present your concerns professionally and try not to flare up your anger, even if not directed at your manager. Bear in mind that your manager may be dealing with the changes much the same as you are.

  • Try to Turn the Change in Your Favor

The phrase “turn lemons into lemonade” has widely been overused. However, it is hard to deny the meaning of it and the impact of that meaning. If you are dealing with change, see what angles you can use to make it work to your benefit in one form or another.

  • Keep Changes You Can Control to a Minimum

If you try to enact too many changes at once, it may overwhelm the affected people. People need time to absorb those changes and incorporate them into their lives. If you bombard them with many changes, they will likely rebel, and you left picking up the pieces. Sometimes, the changes you put into place can not be helped. But, if you do have control over them, try to introduce them slowly over time.

  • Join Support Groups

Some changes will impact people where they need the support of others. It can happen when death strikes or some long-term illness. It could be trying to give up a type of addiction, etc. There may be other types of changes where people need to reach out. Seek out the help of others who are going through similar circumstances as you are.

  • Trust Your Instincts

You could be forced into situations or decisions that go against what they believe. If you find yourself in such a case, it is best to go with your gut or trust your instincts. If the change does not feel right and you have no power to counter it, try to remove yourself from the situation if you feel strongly about it.

  • Change Can Lead to Unforeseen Opportunities

You could say this goes in line a bit with the lemonade from lemons, but when you start to focus on change being something good, opportunities will be more open to you. They have a way of finding you. These opportunities may not have presented themselves had the changes not occurred.

I hope you find this of some help. Until next time, stay safe and keep the faith.

P.S. I have quotes on goals and they are for the month of January. So, even though it does not deal with the above post, I thought I would still share on this post.

What is Winning?

I’ve learned that fear limits you and your vision. It serves as blinders to what maybe just a few steps down the road for you. The journey is valuable, but believing in your talents, abilities, and self-worth can empower you to walk down an even brighter path. Transforming fear into freedom – how great is that? Soledad O’Brien

Winning has a different connotation for each of us. We each express it differently. Here are a few ways to look at the value of winning.

When you have a plan to win, it gives you a purpose to guide your daily actions. It helps you to grow mentally, physically, and emotionally to enjoy a much better life for yourself and your loved ones.

You take control of your thoughts. When you set a goal, you break it into bite-size bits when fear knocks on your door. It tells you how much it loves you, and it does not want you to get hurt. Now is the time to slam the door in its face. Take charge of your thoughts and any well-meaning outside influences.

Do the actions/steps you need to shape the life you want and go after the goals and plans you have set yourself. Make your dreams come true by achieving the goals that make you happy. Do not be afraid to shape your life positively.

Create your well-balanced life, and include enough time for your family, recreation, work, or business. Choose your way to live your life as a winner and be a WINNER!

Until tomorrow, stay safe, and keep the faith.

5 Ways to Approach Setting Goals & Achieving Them

Setting goals to work towards sounds like a pretty straightforward task. However, as you may already know, following them and achieving them can prove to be surprisingly tricky.

If you are looking to stick to the goals you set, it all comes down to how you approach them. You can make a lot of mistakes with goal setting that can sabotage your chance of success. So, to help ensure you avoid these mistakes, below, you will discover five ways to approach setting goals and achieving them.

1. Make sure the goals are small and measurable

One of the critical mistakes you can make when setting goals is making them too big. While it’s essential to have an end goal in mind, it is even more important to break down the goal into smaller, easily achievable ones.

You will also want to make sure the goals are measurable. Know how it will feel and what you will see and hear once you reach the goal. They can also help you to identify in detail what it is you want from life too. So, start by making sure your goals are small and measurable to improve your chances of achieving them.

2. Ensure the goals are as specific as possible

Another thing you will want to ensure is that you are making your goals as detailed as possible. The vaguer they are, the less chance you will have at achieving them.

It is pretty challenging to stay focused on a vague goal. Your mind needs to know detailed steps to be taken. So, take your overall goal, such as losing weight, break it down into more specific, smaller goals such as losing a pound or two each week or exercising for a set number of days each week.

3. Commit to your goals

Whatever goals you choose to work towards, you will need to commit to sticking to them. Do everything you can to achieve each goal that you set.

It starts by writing your goals down and then coming up with an action plan to achieve them. Remember, make them small and specific for the best chance of success. It is also important to realize that you are not going to see overnight success. Committing to your goals is a long-term process that you are going to need to work on continually.

4. Consider making them public

If you are worried, you will not have the willpower to stick to your goals, it can help to make them public. That is, sharing them with your friends and family. Once we tell others about our plans, it makes us more accountable to achieve them.

Knowing that your friends and family are expecting you to progress with your goals can give you that push to continue.

5. Make sure you set a deadline

It is all well and reasonable to set goals, but if you do not have a specific deadline in mind, it will be more challenging to achieve them.

Because if you give yourself free reign to work on your goals whenever, it is more than likely you will not work on them at all. It is easier to put them off and think, “I will start on them tomorrow,” then before you know it, months have passed, and you are no closer to your goals.

So, give yourself a deadline for each goal you create. Make sure it is realistic and personalized to suit each purpose.

Ensuring you are approaching goal setting in the right way improves your chances of achieving them. The above are just five ways to approach your goals if you want to ensure your chance of success.

Until tomorrow, stay safe, and keep the faith.

Turn Dreams into Reality with Goals

If you are looking to turn your dreams into reality this year, you will want to utilize the power of goals. Ask any successful person their key to success, and they will tell you it is mainly in the goal-setting.

So, what are goals, and how exactly can they help you to achieve your dreams? Here, you will discover everything you need to know.

What are goals?

The definition of a goal is a desired result a person wants to accomplish, combined with the effort to achieve it. You can set plans for every single area of your life, and they can be both large and small.

For example, you may want to progress in your current career. You can make this your broad, overall goal. However, to achieve it, there are specific steps you will need to take, such as training. You can break these steps down into smaller goals.

It is essential to make sure you are setting smaller, achievable goals and not just large ones. Because, to achieve any goal that you select, you need to stay motivated.

If the goal is too big, such as progressing in your career or losing weight, it will take a long time to achieve it, and you won’t see much progress along the way. However, if you were to break down the goals, you would accomplish them quickly, boosting your motivation to continue.

Examples of smaller goals include:

  • Lose 2 lbs in one week
  • Sign up for a training course
  • Go for a walk once a week

The smaller the goals, the more comfortable you will find them to achieve. Now you know what goals are and why are they so important?

Why are goals important?

There are a lot of reasons why goal setting is essential. The fact it allows you to work towards your dreams is one of the most significant advantages. However, others include:

They allow you to take control of your life – Do you often feel like you have no control over your own life? It is easy to lose our way and get caught up in living on auto-pilot. However, goal setting can help you to take back control over your life.

By setting goals, you are thinking about what you want from life. Instead of just doing what everyone else wants you to do, you will start to act more upon what you want to achieve.

They help keep you focused – When you have a list of goals to work towards, it helps keep you focused on your dreams. It is easy to lose focus when you do not have a specific plan in mind, and you are just going through the motions day upon day. Goals give you a sense of direction, which in turn focuses the mind.

Ensuring you achieve maximum results – It is pretty tough to get the best results when you do not have goals. Did you know that all of the most successful people in the world set goals they look to accomplish?

When you have a list of goals, you will find you push yourself harder to achieve them. You are taking the first step to achieve your dreams when you create goals in your life.

Allowing you to measure your progress – Finally, goals can help you to measure your progress. You can see just how far you have come, as well as how far you still have left to go to achieve them. In turn, it can help to keep those motivation levels up.

As you can see, goals are critical in life if you want to turn your dreams into reality. The above is just some of the reasons goal setting is essential. If you have not created any goals that you want to achieve in life, now is the time to do so.

Until next time, please stay safe, and keep the faith.

Goals

GOALS

By setting goals, you determine

your life’s direction and give

meaning to what you are doing. -Unknown-

GOALS give me direction.

A person without a GOAL is like a ship without a rudder.

When I stop GROWING, I begin to die. -Dr. Howard Jans-

During the pandemic, I have learned that I have to write my goal/dream down on paper, and two, I have to get clear about what I want to do.

In the past, when I decided on a goal, I would write it down with a list of other things I wanted to do. Sometimes I was able to do them all, but often I failed. And boy, could I come up with excuses for my failures. What I should have done, look at what I had accomplished and what I failed, and made the necessary changes for future improvements.

I recognize so many mistakes I made, but I am happy to say that I have changed. I still make errors and miscalculations, but I check how I can do it differently. I choose not to give up because it did not work.

I will admit that I do several things, and sometimes it may seem like I am giving up, but the truth is I have a variety of things I am interested in and like to do. At my age, I can not wait to complete one thing then move to the next one.

Therefore, I do more than one at a time. I can do that now because my children are all adults with children of their own.

I do not know where you are in your life, but I urge you to set clear goals and take the necessary action to achieve them. I want to get more in-depth on this subject. However, I am going to save it for tomorrow. I promised to have this post up within two hours, and I need more time to speak on this subject.

Now, you have a reason to return tomorrow. Until then, stay safe, and keep the faith.

Live the Life You Desire – Now!

DAY by DAY, I am getting better in every way.

DREAM things that never were and ask why not?

DARE to DREAM new dreams.

Leaders DARE to be DIFFERENT. -Dr. Howard Jans-

It seems that everything you have ever learned is about preparing yourself for a better future. It is easy to get so caught up in the future that you lose the ability to enjoy the life you are living right now.

The Power Of The Present

The first thing you should do to take action toward a better life is to realize the present moment’s power. There are different ways you can genuinely come to this realization, but the most popular and widely accepted method is meditation.

Meditation allows you to clear your mind. It is refreshing to focus on the present moment when you find the time to sit down and relax without worrying about the past or future.

Your reflection time will allow you to sort out your inner thoughts. On the flip side, take note of the number of times your mind tries to distract you from the present moment. You will be surprised to see just how many times your mind steals the present moment from you to dwell on the past or future.

Enjoy The Journey

Your journey is all you have. Your goals are important, but it is the path you take toward your goals that yield many fruits. You must be willing to enjoy your life and live consciously, even if you haven’t yet reached your goals.

If you have a lofty goal, such as becoming a doctor or the CEO of a large company, realize that it will take much planning and years of experience. Once you reach your goal, you may feel fulfilled, but your life must not be unhappy and miserable until you get there!

You can remain happy by concentrating on the present and enjoying the journey. As you make positive progress towards your goal, you will know that you are always one step closer.

Envision Your Future Self

While you should spend a great deal of time enjoying the present moment, you can add to your happiness by envisioning your future self.

Reflect on the feelings associated with the successful completion of your goals. Think about the traits you will exhibit when you have the life you desire. Now bring those traits into your present.

If you study to be a doctor, you are working long days for little or no pay. You are studying at all hours with little sleep. You might feel almost tortured. That is not the desired life you dreamt of having!

Now is when you should be proud of the steps you have taken so far. After all, what you are learning now will shape your future, so you might as well approach today with joyful gratitude!

Live The Life You Want Now

Whether you maintain complete focus on your ultimate goals or not, it is essential to living the life you desire right now. You do not know how many days you have on this earth, and you owe it to yourself to make the most of them!

Keep these tips in mind:

  • Even on busy days, take at least some time for yourself
  • Do not waste your time on people who do not believe in you and your abilities
  • Adopt a “glass is half full” mentality

Most importantly, it would help if you believe in yourself. Some people are afraid of success. They will take no action toward their dreams indefinitely because they fear success and fear that they are incapable.

It would help if you did not fall into this negative pattern. Do not waste your time on dead ends. Instead, take action, learn your lessons, and enjoy the journey!

Until next time, stay safe, and keep the faith.
